The 8 Doors of qimen dunjia affects the aspect of people.
In general, the 3 doors of open, rest and growth are auspicious doors. The 3 doors of hurt, shock and death are inauspicious. The remaining 2 doors of forge and scene are neutral and can swing either way.
There are 5 conditions that each door can have. Prosper (旺), Phase (相), Rest (休), Trap (囚), Death (死). Prosper and Like is associated with positive aspects, and the remaining 3 are negative aspects. These are evaluated by determining the season in focus.
1) Open 开
Associated with the qian trigram at the northwest. The element is metal. Open door is related to the beginning, or starting up, of things. A very auspicious door related to that starting of businesses, travels, examinations, marriage, and healing.
2) Rest 休
Associated with the kan trigram at the north. Water element. Rest door is related to recovery, helpful people, high-status positions, moving, business, creativity.
3) Growth 生
Associated with the gen trigram at the northeast. An earth element door. It is related to wealth, real estate, farming, travel, marriage.
4) Hurt 伤
Associated with the zhen trigram at the east. Embodies the wood element. It is related to accidents and injuries, especially those that are involuntarily caused by oneself. It is also related to sickness. Not favorable for a diverse variety of activities.
5) Forge 杜
Associated with the xun trigram at the southeast. The element is wood. It is very much associated with being blocked, facing barriers, delayed by bottlenecks. It is also linked to guarding and protection. Among the inauspicious stars, this is not as unfavorable as Hurt and Death.
6) Scene 景
Associated with the li trigram at the south. The element it is linked to is fire. It can be associated to planning, gossips, injuries. As this is one of the neutral stars that can be either good or bad, one must be careful in assessing where it leans towards.
7) Death 死
Associated with the kun trigram at the southwest. The element is earth. Major negative events like total failure, financial catastrophe, crippling injuries and even death.
8) Shock 惊
Associated with the dui trigram at the west. It’s element is metal. It is associated with rumors, conflicts, misrepresentations, miscalculations, expressions.
